Creativity in Practice

We try to partner with our clients.  When we know you well we are at our most efficient in helping you avoid the land mines and take advantage of the clear paths.  And we love figuring out how to do something that initially seems undoable.  It's easy for a lawyer to say "no."  It's harder to figure out the path to "yes."

Our practice is focused on corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, securities law, intellectual property, media end entertainment, international law and those areas encountered by growing businesses. We will frequently discuss additional matters and may refer other attorneys who we trust outside of our field of practice. We also assist clients, as solicitors, in identifying and interviewing specialists in non-corporate areas in which our clients have need of services.

We may help with certain additional matters facing your high-growth business. While we do not bill for telling you what we think about non-legal issues, we do not shrink, when requested, from giving you our thoughts about issues you face.  We will therefore, assist you in preparing and revising a business plan, identifying potential funding sources or investors, including venture capital funds, investment banks and individual investors.

Creativity in Fees

We can always quote a flat rate fee for those clients interested in avoiding hourly rates.  While we may need assistance at the beginning of a project in identifying the nature and complexity of the project, once we have agreed to a flat fee we will do all work identified in connection with that project for that flat fee.  Legal fees may thus be budgeted and become a known, rather than an unknown, expense.

We are also prepared to act as general counsel on a retainer basis.  Under our usual retainer arrangement, we perform legal services for a period of six or twelve months and charge for those services at either our normal hourly rates or at pre-determined flat fees.  Nonetheless, the only amount due to us on a monthly basis is the amount agreed to in advance between us and you.  Under this arrangement you have access to experienced legal services on an as needed basis as if you had in-house general counsel sitting in the office next door.  You can avoid undertaking the expense of hiring in-house counsel along with the overhead of doing so.

And we won't nickel and dime you for small overhead costs such as telephone calls, facsimiles and photocopying.  Our profit center is in our professional work; not in making useless photocopies at $0.50 each.
